Water Dragons and Blue Banded Bee

This was a surprisingly fast painting, it took less than a week, despite the detail and size. I was experimenting with a looser style and had to limit myself. I love the expression on the Dragon's face in the foreground - debating whether the bee is edible or a bad idea! A wiser - perhaps more experienced Water Dragon looks on from the background, watching to see what will happen. I added the bee halfway through the painting and loved how suddenly there was a story, just because of how the Dragon needed a reason to be looking up with such curiosity. Sometimes the painting is kind enough to show you what it wants as you are working on it.
